Housing costs in Leelanau County have surged past local incomes and there is a real shortage of homes. Low and middle class workers are not able to live in our community and we run the risk of creating a place where only the most wealthy can afford to live.

35.0% of Leelanau County students qualify for free/reduced school lunch and families struggle to access health care, housing, heat, transportation, childcare, clothing and food. Investing in early childhood is one of the most substantial steps the region can take to strengthen business, improve schools, expand economic opportunities and move the Grand Traverse Bay area forward.
